about those bubbles...

Wanted to share some shots of the bubbles from last weeks Sand Art Festival. Interesting how a man with a couple of sticks, some rope and  a bucket of soapy water can make everyone smile.

Our skies will not be so clear and colorful this weekend as we wait for Iselle and Julio to decide which islands they want to visit. We are prepared and ready to ride the storm out.
You may or may not hear from me for a few days depending the punch of these storms.  Please keep the people of Hawaii in your thoughts and  prayers.

Goals...focus on photography

One of my goals for 2014 is to become a better photographer. I love taking photos and capturing images that are unique.  I am really just a novice and quite frankly some of my shots are just pure luck. I know just enough to be dangerous!!  I have made it a goal in 2014 to actually learn the "how to" of my big girl camera.  This is going to be a learning experience, so I hope you will bare with me as I post some of my experiments.

Info on the above shot. This is a photo taken in full color at 4p.m. of the iconic pier on Hanalei Bay. My goal with this photo was trying new sunset settings, hence the lack of color except for the sun flare.   What do you like, dislike...what would make it better?  I wanna hear what you think.

Oh, this is going to be fun!!

While we take a nap...

For the past few days mom has been getting us up early to watch the sunrises and long unleashed walks. When she is all done with her chores we allow her to go exploring while we take much needed naps. So here's some more photos that she took yesterday while visiting the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge and Lighthouse.

52 feet tall and it has a basement

The refuge is home to albatross and a number of other sea birds. If you look closely you will see white spots in the middle of the above photo. Those spots are actually albatross that have just returned from Alaska. In the near future the mating pairs will prepare nests for their new families.

This is a wedge tail shearwater chick. It still has down,
so it will be a short time til it's time to FLY!!

This little guy (wedge tail shearwater) is ready for his
first flight, which should be any day.

Happy Thursday!!
