Boots....mom wants to get us BOOTS!!!

My mom is thinking Schatzie and I need some winter boots similar to the ones shown in this photo. She's tired of having to wipe our feet every time when come inside. Because of the drought we've got LOTS of bare ground and when you add a little  water you get MUD...and mom hates mud.
Do any of your furbabies wear boots?? If so, do you have any suggestions as to what kind mom should outfit us with??

  1. well these are certainly cute, my niece has the same problem in PA, with the mud most of the year, she has to labs, she goes in through the garage and washes their feet with a hose/bucket every time. LOTS of work. hope someone has some advice for you. we have no mud here, just black sand

  4. We don't wear boots, I just wipe off their feet. :-)

Here's what I'm thinking, if you get boots you won't have to wipe their feet but you will have to put on and take off......dirty boots! :-)

  5. Kelsey just got her first pair of booties...for the opposite problem. The patio and sidewalks out here are too hot for her paws in the summer. She hates wearing them, but they do the job. At first, she refused to walk in them, so I bribed her to walk using cookies (I got a really funny video of that). I would check to make sure they are waterproof, have a good strap to keep them in place, and also consider how they can be cleaned.

  6. Boots or maybe just keep a pail of water by the door and rinse her paws off, then dry quickly before she comes inside. I dunno - sounds like work either way! Thankfully we don't get a lot of muddy days here in Arizona!

  7. Hi Gracie, We've never gotten boots for our pups but now with Hunter, I'm beginning to think about it-because he is so small and with the snow, it balls up and you can't get it off except in the bath. Might help on our walks this winter. Let us know what you find out-I've heard that they can be hard to keep on.
Have a great weekend; hopefully you won't have snow.

  10. We had a senior boy that had to wear boots a couple of years ago. I bought him Muttluks Dog Boots from Foster and Smith and I loved them for him. They stayed on nicely, kept his feet warm and dry and gave him some pretty good traction. I still have them but haven't used them for the others who seem to do okay without them. But in our house, paw prints all around and on everything is just how we roll! :-)

  11. Hi Gracie! We don't use boots here. We clean a lot of paws. :)

  12. My dogs would say that no boots are good!!!! Although we sometimes make them wear boots, they never love them. We have two kinds. We use Ruffwear boots when our dogs are on dry and rough land, like the slickrock in Moab or the rocks on our trails (if one of them has an injured paw). We use Muttluk (spelling?) boots when it's cold and snowy. The dogs definitely like the Muttluks better but they're not tough enough to hold up to any terrain aside from snow.

  13. I want to see the film of getting the boots on...
Once the boots are on, the first steps...
AND then just how long they last on their feet.

I think if you can get that on film it will go viral!
p.s. gracie ask for royalties before you put on the boots.

  14. Oh, I have tried boots. First I tried them on our late basset Barney and then with Fred. I just couldn't get them to stay on! I don't know if it's their short stubby legs or what but I was constantly fixing them or putting them back on. I finally figured it was easier to just wipe up the floor! LOL!

  16. We had a cocker spaniel several years ago that we got boots for soe she could wear them inside the house. We had wood floors at the time and she was getting so old she couldn't stand up on the slick floors but once we boot some non-slip boots on her she was good to go. We got ours at Cabela's and they looked a lot like the ones in your photo.

The problem with boots for outside is you have to keep putting them on and taking them off when they want to go outside. Sometimes it's easier just to clean the floor! LOL

  18. For a mud situation like that, I use the semi-disposable rubber Pawz Dog Boots. They don't hold up forever, but they do keep paws clean and dry. I've also used sled dog booties from dogbooties.com. Also cheap and disposable, but they do not keep feet *dry*.
