The Under Side...

A couple days ago I was making my way to the beach in search of seals. This particular trek takes me through a long tunnel of shrubbery called a hau bush. The hau is a true hibiscus, the leaves are heart shaped and the flower is bright yellow in the a.m. changing to a reddish color by days end when it falls from the bush. As I was strolling along I noticed the sunlight peeking through the foliage and was able to capture a few cool shots. Hope you enjoy.

Week #2 Music {52 Snapshots of Life}

A bit late in posting my {52 Snapshot of life} this week, but I was wanting to post shots from the Whale Welcoming celebration that was held yesterday afternoon. It was the 5th annual Whale Welcoming event to be held here on Kauai. I am fortunate that the venue is a quick walk from my house. So we camera in hand I headed out.
The sky was a beautiful blue and the ocean was so calm making it easy to spot the various whale spouting in the near waters. It was a celebration of our ocean, the earth and our relationship with both. It was interesting to listen to all the wonderful music, which included drums, heart flutes, dideridoo, rattles and  shakers. Many gave heartfelt  testimonies of their relationships with the whales. It was a very moving musical celebration.

I don't spend all my time on the beach....

After a morning seal survey (in which I found no seals) I headed to the "hills" to explore a bit. Sharing just a few photos to wet your senses. This is the Keahua Arboretum near the trail head for the Kuilau Trail.  A beautiful place on a simply perfect day. Think next time I will pack a lunch and explore more!  ***If my hubby is reading this we need to do this trail soon!!

Ke`e Beach....

On Saturday we loaded up the adventure mobile, steered her northward and didn't stop until we could go no further (on pavement that is).  We found ourselves at Ke`e Beach.

What a beautiful place to enjoy the sun, swim and snorkel and that's what we did!!
This photo shows the beginning of the Na Pali Coast

I enjoyed the lagoon

Ron enjoyed the snorkeling and even found himself in the midst of 20 green sea turtles.
(hope to post a video soon)

Pups on the beach...where are the GIRLZ??
Well, you're not suppose to bring pups to State Parks, guess this guy didn't read the sign.
Sweet pup though.

Unfortunately we saw a few peeps that didn't understand this sign.
Hey....don't ya know that the reef is ALIVE!!!

As we were leaving Ke`e Beach Lagoon

We didn't stay for the sunset, but were blessed with this amazing rainbow.

Mahalo for thoughts and prayers during Flossie.
Fortunately she kinda fizzled, we just had rain here on Kauai.
But, we were prepared.

Postcard from Poppy and a package...

If you recall from yesterday's post I told you my poppy was leaving me for a short time.
Poppy packed his 2 large suitcases and headed down the road.

You see, Poppy is headed  to his new job. With today's technology he sent us this postcard.
This is from somewhere in New Mexico.  He is going to visit my grandpeeps before putting the car on the "car cruise ship" in California.
On the road in New Mexico

Now I'm going to change things up just a bit, but believe me it will make sense in the end
Schatzie and I received this package a few days ago from our friends at Go Pet Friendly.com .In the package we found this really cool calendar featuring Ty and Buster. They are famous for all their travels and have this awesome website helping peeps traveling with pets. This is going to be very helpful when we make our move in July. The website will help you determine the best places to stay, visit and routes to take when traveling with you special four legged friends. It also lists great places for TREATS--I love treats!
(So go check out this website...your pet will love you for it.)

Look here's a photo of Ty and Buster...

So how did we win this wonderful calendar??? Some of you know our friend SUGAR. She used to live on Maui and Go Pet Friendly had a contest. The contest wanted us to identify the place where SUGAR was hanging loose. We knew it was a beach near Black Rock on the west end of Maui---and we won!!

Now back to our move....

Have you guessed where we're going to move??

Here's a hint....

Yes, we're  moving back to Hawaii....Mom's been working on all the necessary paperwork and vet visits. Schatzie and I are now half way through our 120 day at home quarantine. Last time we went to Hawaii we flew from Denver and it took FOREVER.  Mom and Poppy decided instead of us all flying from the middle of the country, we are going to drive to the coast and get on the big flying machine there. By doing that we won't have such a long time in our traveling kennels--plus we'll get to see more of the country  and you can bet we're going to be using the GO Pet Friendly.com website.

Guess what island we're going to be living on????
Schatzie and I are thinking of becoming  island tour guides like SUGAR was for MAUI!!
hmmm....there's another hint (it's NOT Maui)

Do you think we'd make good tour guides??

***Special Note***
I'm guessing our friend Ron at Shutterbugs capturing the world just fell on the floor.
Yes Ron, you're welcome to visit and don't forget your camera :)
