I dropped Ron off at his winter surf spot and I headed to 'Black Pot" on the Hanalei Bay in hopes of paddling up the Hanalei River. Well after driving around searching for a parking space, I gave up and went back to an area known as Pine Trees and sat and watched Ron surf. My paddling board session on the Hanalei River wasn't happening today.
Hanalei Bay is a crescent shaped bay that extends nearly 3 miles. The Bay was packed so I did some people watching. I love watching people at the beach, such differences in body coverage. A man sitting to my left was a local fellow dressed for "winter" as he had long pants, hooded sweatshirt and flip flops or slippahs, as we say. In front of me was a young lady(tourist) with much less coverage. Interesting how warm or cold 78 degrees feels, just depends on the individual. Me, I was appropriately covered somewhere in between this two folks.
As Ron finished surfing I drove to meet him back at Black Pot where the parking area and beach was still packed. This is where the dogs come in.
As we left Hanalei I snapped this shot of the taro fields--pretty peaceful.
