Do Something Good...

Aloha Everyone!

Saturday,  Ron and I spent the day doing something GOOD!!  Along with 200 volunteers, we participated in the 2nd annual Coastline Cleanup Day at Anahola Beach Park. The event sponsors were: Sustainable Coastlines, Kauai Surfrider and B-Rad Foundation.  The cleanup was from Donkey Beach to Papa`a Bay (which is roughly 5 miles).  There was 14,200 lbs of rubbish, marine debris, ropes and nets removed from our shores. It was a fun experience working along side men, women and kids who are passionate about keeping our island trash free.

My favorite beach find of the day. I took him home and gave him a
much needed bath, he has a new life!!

Can you see the seal.....he was happy we were cleaning up his "hood"

Another one of the seals

Sunday, I went back to the beach hoping to find the seals, unfortunately  I found our pristine beach of yesterday littered with a new wave of plastic.
Stupid me didn't take a bag to collect rubbish.
The following is 138 plastic tubes known as oyster spacers that I gathered,
it was all that I could carry back to the car.

Go Do Something GOOD!!

  2. Way to go Val and the entire crew. I think it would be so much easier and more fun cleaning it up with others. Amazing; that bear is pretty cute.
    Sending winter hugs(snows coming)your way.

  4. That looks like something really good to do. I plan on joining in on some local things like that when I get to the islands. It's always good to do good!
